The city also houses the Chiba Port, which has a capacity to handle some of largest volumes of cargo present in the nation. Most of the city is filled with buildings of the residential type.  There are many industries, workshops and warehouses which are located all along the coastline. Chiba is at present governed by Keiichi Tsuruoka. It is a large area and it covers a land space of 272.8 sq. km. The culture here has remained a bit traditional, as there are a few backward classes of people who have some typical customs and superstitions.
